Religion & religious community

If the young person wishes to follow a religion, they are provided with any items they need, and linked with a local place of worship.

Days 1-2

NEEDS:

  • Ascertain religion and if there is a desire to follow this 

When the young person first arrives, their religion is recorded and support staff ascertain how strictly they wish to follow this religion.

Weeks 1-2

NEEDS:

  • Ascertain religion and if there is a desire to follow this 

If the young person requires, relevant religious items are provided such as prayer mats, copies of their holy book (Bible, Koran etc).

Months 1-4

NEEDS:

  • Link with mosque/church etc

When felt appropriate, in line with their risk assessment, the young person is linked with a local place of worship if they wish for this.  Initial introduction may be through an accompanying support worker or another young person in care, depending on if the place of worship is known.
